Dolomite is a limestone rock composed of calcium and magnesium carbonate.
Dolomite is rarely found in modern sedimentary environments, but dolomites are very common among rocks. They can be located geographically extensively and hundreds of thousands of meters deep. Most of the rocks that are rich in dolomite were originally deposited as calcium carbonate muds that were altered by magnesium-rich water, giving rise to the formation of dolomite.
When talking about a mixture of calcium and magnesium in the form of carbonates, the absorption of one mineral favors that of the other. Precisely these minerals are essential to maintain bone and joint health in good condition, helping to avoid osteoporosis, strengthening bones and teeth. In addition, calcium favors muscle contraction and magnesium intervenes in its relaxation, hence its recognized role in the cardiac system.
