La Mejorana has a relevant place among the spices used as a condiment in Mediterranean cuisine. This plant is also used in many liquors, in the preparation of food preserves and in perfumery. Its original aromatic characteristics are added to the properties of stimulating the secretion of gastric juices and awakening the appetite; on the intestinal tract, marjoram acts by normalizing digestive processes, blocking fermentations, attenuating painful contractions. Due to its sedative characteristics, marjoram is useful as a relief drink for all painful intestinal forms, neuralgia, migraines; it has expectorant and slightly diuretic properties. For external use, in vapors and inhalations, it is a good symptomatic remedy for colds as it helps to free the nasal cavity of mucus.
