Macadamia nut oil is obtained from the fruit of the macadamia tree (Macadamia ternifolia). The macadamia tree belongs to the Proteaceae family.
Its fruit has a fatty oil content ranging between 70 and 75%. Originally native to Australia, the macadamia nut tree is now also grown in South Africa, Kenya, South America, and Hawaii.
Characteristic properties:
Macadamia nuts are exceptionally high in palmitoleic acid, which is found in the skin, as well as oleic acid.
Uses and applications:
The palmitoleic acid found in the skin improves the absorption of this oil, which also spreads evenly and without leaving a greasy sensation.
The fatty acid composition is similar to that of human sebum.
Very suitable for dry, rough and sensitive skin; It has a regenerative and softening effect on the skin.
Highly valued for moisturizing and anti-wrinkle formulas in creams, body oils, regenerative cosmetics, massage oils, shampoos and hair conditioning treatments.
